Tar and Gravel Roof system
Tar and Gravel Roof system
Tar and gravel roofs are composed of laminated layers of asphalt based sheets, hot tar, and roofing felt. The topmost layer is lined with light-color gravel which protects the layers against sun damage and reflects some of the sun’s light.
Gravel is dispersed into a flood coat of hot asphalt and applied over the top of the roof membrane. This acts as an adhesive when it cools.
Throughout time, the tar that is ment to adhere the gravel to the roof starts to dry out, and the gravel becomes loose whitch will not protect the membrane as it was designed to do. We specialize in gravel roof restorations to ensure the gravel adheares to the roof again and prolong its lifespan.
